The first couple of hip-hop, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, might be performing for Prince William and his new bride this week.
A source close to the royal couple told the Daily Star that Bey and Jay have been asked to perform at the royal reception following William and Kate Middleton’s wedding on Friday.
"Both William and Kate are massive fans of Beyoncé and Jay-Z," the insider said. "They really wanted to make their big day even more special and what better way than by getting pop royalty to perform at the party?"
Reportedly Will and Kate will actually have two receptions: An official reception for dignitaries followed by a less formal, more personal reception for the newlyweds’ nearest and dearest. It’s not clear which reception Bey and Jay would perform at, if the rumors are true.
The prestigious gig wouldn’t exactly be out of the way for the diva and rapper hubby. Jay-Z, also known as Shawn Carter, and his wife are currently in Europe as Beyoncé promotes her new single "Girls (Who Run the World)."
During her "vacation" Beyoncé took a few hours to pose for Harper’s Bazaar, modeling a dress from Gucci’s A/W 2011 collection at the Ritz Hotel. It hasn’t been announced which issue the photos will be featured in.
The royal reception news conflicts with other reports that Beyoncé and Jay-Z will not be performing at the royal wedding. Specifically, her camp has denied the rumors, stating that she’ll actually be shooting a video in New York City on the day of the ceremony.
