It was a busy weekend for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon as they welcomed twins on their third anniversary.
Nick announced on Saturday that Mariah popped out a healthy pair of twins, a boy and a girl, tweeting, "My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won’t ever be able to top this!"
A rep for the couple said that the twins arrived just after noon as Mariah’s single "We Belong Together" played in the Los Angeles delivery room. According to PopEater.com, their daughter was born first, weighing in at 5 pounds and 3.0 ounces. The boy, who was 5 pounds and 6 ounces, was delivered shortly after that.
Despite having nine months to prepare monikers, Nick and Mariah haven’t named the babies yet.
After the happy arrival, the couple still wanted to celebrate their third wedding anniversary. They marked the milestone as a new family with a ceremony in the hospital where Nick and Mariah renewed their vows. The Rev. Al Sharpton presided over the occasion.
"I am just leaving Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. She had twins yesterday on their 3rd anniversary. I had prayer with them and the babies," Al announced via Twitter on Sunday. "I also conducted the renewal of their vows and the blessing of the newborn twins. Mariah looks GREAT, and the babies are beautiful."
"Yep, we just had a wedding in the hospital," Nick confirmed in a tweet. "Thank you to @THEREVAL who came all the way to the hospital to renew me and my wife’s vows and pray with our children."
