Olivia aims to show everyone that she has her own style and can do more than belt out hooks for rap songs, which she did as the first lady of 50 Cent’s G-Unit.
Her new single, “Lick Salt Shot Lime,” is a clear departure from the masculine G-Unit sound. “When I was in the group, I had to conform to a bunch of rappers. I couldn’t stand next to 50 Cent and sing [“Lick Salt Shot Lime”] because it just doesn’t match. So now, I’m able to do all the R&B I want to do,” Olivia explained.
The liner notes for her album, Show the World, due out near the end of the year, will show a who’s who of producers, including Missy Elliott, Bryan-Michael Cox, Sean Kingston and Ryan Leslie.
With the help of her new management and a new record deal, we’ll finally get to see and hear the real Olivia. She’s going to be touring all summer promoting her new album.
Listen to "Lick Salt Shot Lime" and get more on Olivia in the June 2011 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
