Andraé Crouch is gospel’s gem, and he doesn’t plan on throwing in the towel anytime soon. He is celebrating his 45th anniversary in music and is set to release his 18th album in May.
He admits that it’s a lot of work. He started his career at the ripe age of 14 and has since traveled to 72 countries, produced and arranged music for numerous films and won seven Grammys.
“Sometimes when I get home, I don’t even feel like looking at a piano,” Andraé said. He’s earned the right to a little down time, but he never stops working. Andraé writes at least five songs a day and describes his creativity as a “tornado” of songs that rush to him.
His latest project is The Journey, due in stores May 17. To promote the album’s lead single, Andraé launched “The Promise” Choir Competition. Choirs can submit videos of their performances of his single, “The Promise,” to riverphlo.com/contest until June 30. The lucky winners will get to record with the legend.
Listen to "The Promise" here and get more on Andraé in the June 2011 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
