People should think highly of themselves. If you don’t, who will? However, when a family is mourning another closed chapter in a struggle for justice for their child and when many Americans across the nation are stunned, saddened, enraged or disheartened about the very thing for which you’re patting yourself on a back, a little humility might be in order.
Like is co-counsel, Don West who began opening remarks with some Knock-Knock “humor,” Mark decided to make a joke—or maybe he was being sincere—during a very serious and somber moment.
Whether he was trying to lighten the mood or just inappropriately cocky and smug, it was offensive to many to hear him stroke his own ego while the Martin family members were likely wiping more tears away.
