The case of Conrad Murray, the doctor charged in the death of Michael Jackson, won’t begin until September, a court recently decided.
Judge Michael Pastor has postponed the trial, which was to begin this month.
“We have to pause for a moment and take a breath. All of us should be ready before we go into further proceedings with a jury,” said Judge Michael, who is also postponing jury selection.
“I believe it is in the best interest of all parties involved,” the judge said.
Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, had asked for two more weeks to prepare, CNN reports. That request followed the prosecution’s addition of witnesses who can allegedly testify that Michael could not have self-ingested the drugs that ultimately caused his death.
The second anniversary of Michael’s death is next month.
