Angela Stanton, the woman who claimed that Phaedra Parks and Apollo Nida were masterminds behind a criminal enterprise that led to her incarceration, is feeling vindicated now.
While “Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans may have been surprised by Apollo’s recent arrest on charges of bank fraud and identity theft, Angela surely wasn’t.
According to Angela, who penned a letter to SandraRose.com, Apollo’s alleged crimes are “remarkably similar” to those in which she was involved years ago.
Angela wrote that she can relate to Gayla St. Julien, who is suspected of helping Apollo. “I was troubled to learn that the alleged crimes involved the use of a vulnerable woman to carry out the schemes. The story is all too familiar to me,” Angela wrote.
Unlike Phaedra, who Angela previously named as a co-conspirator in the crimes that landed Apollo in jail years ago, Angela actually ended up behind bars. “I have felt a certain sense of anger,” she said. “Certain individuals found me at a time when I was vulnerable and searching for friendship.”
Angela said she’s learned from her experience and hopes Phaedra is wiser, too. “I sincerely hope that Ms. Parks has not been part of [Apollo’s] alleged crimes. I hope that she, like I, learned from her mistakes.”
Angela chronicled the tumultuous period of her life in her book Real Housewife: Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil. However, she said Phaedra has used her popularity and legal expertise to silence her.
“She filed lawsuits against my publisher and threatened them with years of expensive litigation if they did not cease publication of my book,” Angela explained. “Ms. Parks used her influence in the media to discredit my story and smear my name.”
Angela said Phaedra’s rumored tactics hurt her financially, and now she’s ready to speak out about what really happened, but not for monetary gain.
“I want to share my story with young people who find themselves drawn to crime and false glamour. I want to caution young people that the wealthy, glamorous lifestyle they see on their television screens is not all it appears to be. It is often built on a lie,” she said.
