Despite the fact the he’s in prison, JaRule is still pressing charges over the copyrights to Pain Is Love.

Murder Inc. CEO Irv Gotti and rapper JaRule filed a lawsuit against a publishing company, who they claim illegally represented themselves as administrators of their copyrights, AllHipHop.com reports.

Irv and Ja claim that defendants, Richard Kid Music and Rondo Robinson misrepresented itself as the owner and administrator of several music compositions off Ja’s 2001 album, Pain is Love.

They are suing for fraud, conversion and copyright infringement.  They also claim that the company owes over $57,000 in royalties and punitive damages.

According to the lawsuit, Richard Kid had an illegal unauthorized Copyright Licensing Agreement with Universal Music Group Canada, where they collected Irv and Ja’s royalties.

The lawsuit goes further, alleging that Irv and Ja have heard of neither Richard Kid Music nor Rondo.

The lawsuit follows the recent incarceration of JaRule, who started his two-anad-a-half year prison sentence June 11 for attempted possession of a weapon.
