Michelle Obama's printed 'Fashion Democracy'
Wed, 10/28/2009 - 12:43 — whitney
Author Mary Tomer is so fascinated with Michelle Obama's style that she wrote a book on it, titled Mrs O: The Face of Fashion Democracy.

Just when you thought nothing else could be said about Michelle Obama's incredible, classic-professional style, now there's a book dedicated to that very topic. Mary Tomer's turned her popular blog, Mrs-O.org, into a book called Mrs O: The Face of Fashion Democracy.
The 200-plus page book goes behind the designs with some of the first lady's more high-profile looks, like that gorgeous Narciso Rodriguez election night dress and the teal Maria Pinto number she wore for the Democratic National Convention.
"It was during the DNC when I went from interested in Michelle Obama to captivated,'' Mary told AOL Black Voices. "That's when I decided to create a blog and I did. She looked phenomenal as she spoke on a national platform. Her feminine style and sensibility was so unexpected from what you expect women to wear in the political realm.''
Mary's careful attention to the details of Michelle's wardrobe attracts tons of visitors to her blog each month. "Michelle has great style and we carry great affection for her,'' she said.
Though Michelle didn't participate in the book, Mary was able to talk to some of the makers of her famous dresses, like Jason Wu, who created her inaugural gown.
"What I want people to take away from the book is that it gives a greater back-story to Michelle Obama,'' said Mary. "If she selects Jason Wu, you get his perspective, his take on what he put into the garment and how he wants women to feel in his clothes. The book also provides a lot of looks and different perspectives. You see a lot more details of dresses and close up of fabrics. I also think it just gives a great appreciation for the woman that is Michelle Obama. It's not just the clothes, but the woman wearing them.''
To find out more abou the first lady's fashions, pick up Mrs O: The Face of Fashion Democracy from online retailers like Amazon.com for $25.00.
