Rock producer Phil Spector has been convicted on charges of second-degree murder.

On April 13, a Los Angeles jury found him guilty in the 2003 shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson. Although emotions ran high n court, E! Online reports that Phil himself seemed unmoved. 

Phil’s lawyers asked that judge to let him remain free on bail until sentencing on May 29. The judge refused the request and the rock producer was immediately taken into the custody.  The Grammy-winning artist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer faces 15 years to life in prison for Lana’s death.

The incident took place back in February 2003 after Phil and Lana met at Los Angeles’ House of Blues one night. The two later went to his home in Alhambra, California.  Five hours later, Phil walked out of the house and told his driver, “I think I killed somebody.”

This was Phil’s second trial in the case.  Back in 2007 a jury became deadlocked with a 10-2 vote in favor of convicting him for murder.

Prosecutors in the first trial said that Lana was the unfortunate victim of a man who had a history of getting violent with women.  Five women even claimed that Phil had drawn on a gun on them at one time or another.  Their testimony was allowed as evidence in the new trial.

This time around, jurors had the option to find him guilty of involuntary manslaughter (a lesser charge). Not only did jurors reject that option, they also found him guilty of using a gun while committing a crime.
