A trailer for Kerry Washington’s upcoming movie, Life is Hot in Cracktown, has just been released.
 
The movie looks at how cocaine has infiltrated urban America and the heavy toll it’s taken on all of its victims—whether they’re users or not.
 
Kerry has never been one to shy away from grittier roles and that went double for this movie. She’s playing a pre-op transsexual prostitute named Marybeth who lives her burglar boyfriend Benny (played by Desmond Harrington).
 
Evan Ross takes on the role of Romeo, a young thug who has dreams of ruling the streets. The gangster is also racked with the guilt over the death of his younger brother.
 
Last, but certainly not least, RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan also tackles a the part of Samy, a gang leader.
 
Life is Hot in Cracktown, based on Buddy Giovinazzo's novel by the same, is slated for a June 26 limited release.
