4. LeVar Burton mad about Mitt Romney’s attack on PBS
LeVar Burton is livid that Mitt Romney wants to cut funding for PBS, which airs his long-running children’s book show "Reading Rainbow."
During the first presidential debate on Wednesday, Mitt said that he intends to cut federal subsidies for the network should he be elected. And that’s when LeVar went off. "I am personally outraged that any serious contender for the White House would target as part of his campaign the children of America in this fashion," the actor told TMZ.
Mitt claims that educating America’s kids is a priority for him, but LeVar said taking money from the non-commerical channel is counterproductive to that assertion.
"Educators across the country," LeVar stated, "as well as millions of children and adults know that the programming on PBS has been responsible for significant improvements in education, literacy, math, science and life skills for generations of our children."
