5. Syfy drops Idris Elba’s ‘Alphas’
Idris Elba’s run on Syfy has come to an end. Deadline.com reports that his hour-long drama "Alphas" has been canceled after just two seasons on the network.
“Syfy has decided not to renew Alphas for a third season,” Syfy said in a statement. “We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television. We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support.”
Idris won’t be sitting around doing nothing, though. The handsome actor, who also stars in "Luther" for the BBC, will be making his directorial debut as part of the Sky Art channel’s Playhouse Presents series.
For his part, Idris will direct The Pavement Psychologist from his a script he wrote. The story centers on a woman whose entire world changes when she meets a homeless man.
