13. Tamar talks Black women’s hair
There’s a reason Tamar Braxton loves wearing a wig or sewing in some weave. During a discussion about Black hair on "The Ricki Lake" show, Tamar was quoted as saying "Black women’s natural hair is a hot mess."
Fellow panelist Nicole Ari Parker, disagreed, though, stating that she prefers to be natural at home to show her daughter that there’s nothing wrong with a little texture.
"I love weaves and wigs. I’m not against it," Nicole said. "But I needed my daughter to see me look like this [natural]. Because right now, at 7 years old, mommy is still the focus point. This is her definition of beautiful right now. I need her to know this was beautiful."
Nicole added, "I really wanted to give her hair a chance to be one of the options."
