"Rescue Me" singer Fontella Bass died today at the age of 72.
Fontella reportedly suffered a heart attack three weeks ago and had experienced several strokes in the last seven years, according to The Huffington Post.
"She was an outgoing person," said Fontella’s daughter Neuka Mitchell. "She had a very big personality. Any room she entered she just lit the room up, whether she was on stage or just going out to eat."
"Rescue Me" is the singer’s most popular hit. It reached No. 1 on the R&B charts.
