3. ‘Django Unchained’ makes box-office history
The Jamie Foxx and Kerry Washington film, set in the era of slavery, earned more than $15 million for its Christmas Day debut, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.
Django Unchained came in second for the day, behind the highly anticipated music Les Miserables, and set a record as director Quentin Tarantino’s highest debut ever.
Django, an Oscar nominee for Best Picture, also makes history as the third highest Christmas debut ever.
