6. Quentin Tarantino defends using N-word in ‘Django Unchained’
How much is too much when it comes to the word "nigger"? With TMZ counting 110 uses of the N-word in Django Unchained, some think the derogatory term was overused in the film. Director Quentin Tarantino dismissed that assertion, telling MTV.com, "No one can say with a straight face that we used the word more than it was used in 1858 in Mississippi."
He argues that using the N-word was part of the the authentic story telling that Django Unchained required. "You’re going to hear some things that are going to be ugly," Quentin told TheRoot.com. "That [is] just part and parcel of dealing truthfully with this story."
