4. Louis Farrakhan denies killing Malcolm X
Minister Louis Farrakhan is speaking out against how Lifetime’s Betty & Coretta played out. In the movie, which aired on February 2, it is implied that Louis is the man that orchestrated Malcolm X’s assassination. The Muslim leader denies that he had any such hand in Malcolm’s death.
I did not kill Malcolm X," Louis told The Final Call. "It is those who want to put on me what no court, no judge, no jury, could put on me. And if my enemies had a chance to bring me before the courts, and put me in prison for such a crime, they would have done it a long time ago!
The publication also questioned how he felt about Mary J. Blige, who played Betty Shabazz, being an executive producer for the TV movie. Despite the way he was portrayed in the "Betty & Coretta," he doesn’t hold anything against Mary.
"Sometimes they will give [famous people] ‘executive producer status’ to add to the strength of the film," said Louis."Mary J. Blige is my friend, and nothing that’s in this movie has diminished my love and respect for her!"
