5. Aretha considers new star for biopic
Arethan Franklin is becoming a little more flexible about who should star in the story of her life.
Originally, the Queen of Soul had her heart set on getting Halle Berry to play her in a biopic, but now her camp has added another name to the wishlist.
According to a press release, Aretha has put Audra McDonald in the running to possibly take the lead in a planned film about the diva. Supposedly, Audra flew onto Aretha’s radar after the diva saw her in Porgy and Bess on Broadway.
Plans for an Aretha biopic hasn’t been finalized yet, but she is looking to ink a deal within the next few months.
