8. Obama does fundraiser in NYC
Sarah Jessica Parker opened her home Thursday for perhaps the most prestigious and fabulous bash she may ever throw: a fundraiser for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.
President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were the guests of honor at the event, which cost guests $40,000 each to attend.
Aretha Franklin, Meryl Streep and Vogue Editor In Chief Anna Wintour were also on hand for the event. What motivated Aretha and others to shell out so much for the exclusive ticket? "I really believe in him, I think that he is very concerned about all people, and that I like," she told CNN. "A lot of hard work to do, but he’s working—they’re working."
According to Entertainment Weekly, celebs raised $4.5 million for the Obama campaign last night.
