3. Ne-Yo was bitter about music indusry
Ne-Yo revealed that he wasn’t always in love with the music industry.
"I’ve been in the game eight years now, I’d say the first five or six years I spent quietly very bitter," he recently told Upscale. "I’m looking at cats that I feel— and no disrespect— but that I’m doing better than or at least as well as, and they are getting more recognition."
For Ne-Yo it seems that popularity as an artist isn’t really based on talent anymore. He thinks many acts gain recognition for their personality and looks instead of their musical ability.
“When did it become not about the music and about how quick you could take your shirt off or how many times you’ve been arrested in a year, or who you f–kin’?" Ne-Yo questioned. "When did that become more important than the quality of the music?"
