3. Chuck Brown: August 22, 1936 – May 16, 2012
The God Father of Go-Go’s infectious beats and rhythms inspired generations for decades. Chuck Brown bought his first guitar with cigarettes while in jail in the 1950s and had literally been rocking ever since. Several weeks before his death, Chuck suffered from pneumonia. He died at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins Medical Center due to multiple organ failure.
