4. Chris Lighty: May 8, 1968 – August 30, 2012
Chris Lighty was a heavyweight in the hip-hop community. As the founder of the Violator record label, Chris represented such talented acts as; LL Cool J, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Ja Rule, Mobb Deep and 50 Cent. He also served as Sean Combs’ manager and worked at Def Jam, Loud and Jive during his career ans was named “one of the most powerful figures in the hip-hop business” by The New York Times. Chris was found dead in his Bronx apartment from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
