5. Hal Jackson: November 3,1914 – May 23 2012
This Howard University graduate will forever be remembered as the radio personality that broke color barriers in the field of broadcasting. Hal got his start broadcasting Howard baseball and local Negro league baseball games. Decades later, he would become the first minority to be inducted in the National Association of Broadcaster’s Hall of Fame. In 1995, he was the first African American inducted to the National Radio Hall of Fame. Hal passed away peacefully at home from natural causes.
