Alicia Keys has looked very happy lately. Her latest platinum album The Element of Freedom is laced with songs about relationships, as usual, but this time around, fans can’t help but draw parallels between her lyrics and her relationship with music producer Swizz Beatz. Did she do the “unthinkable” with Swizz? 


Alicia’s relationship with Swizz, the first public relationship of her amazing career, is getting a rocky reception among fans, thanks to Swizz’s messy divorce from his singer wife Mashonda. The rumors surrounding the lovebirds, who went public in March with their romance, are endless. There’s the rumor about Swizz’s alleged love child with a foreign singer, the rumor that Alicia and Swizz are already engaged, the rumor that Alicia is pregnant and, perhaps the biggest one, that Alicia split up Swizz and Mashonda’s marriage. The only thing that’s been verified is that they were dating before Swizz and his wife signed divorce papers this spring, but Swizz and Mashonda separated in 2008, well before their divorce. So, we took to the Internet, where the Swizz-Alicia-Mashonda rumors live, to see what cyber-world thinks. 



Should Alicia come clean about her relationship and defend her good name? Or is it none of our beeswax? Most people felt the way Zandra Perdue does: “We aren’t owed any explanations or justifications for how the two came together,” she wrote. 


Other fans said they’d lose respect for Alicia if Mashonda’s claims that Alicia tore her marriage apart were confirmed. Swizz has publicly denied that cheating had anything to do with their breakup. 


Maxine Soso thinks everyone should C our way out of their A-B relationship. “What they do does not concern us and doesn’t affect our lives; therefore it is absolutely none of our business. … They have to deal with the consequences, not us,” she said.
